STEVEN H. WESTON
Steven H. Weston has been representing people who suffer from serious injuries for over twenty-four years. Early in his career, Steve was especially interested in representing traumatic brain injury survivors and their families. Steve has committed an extensive portion of his practice to studying, learning and understanding this special and unique area of the law and the very different needs of Traumatic Brain Injury survivors. Steve has also devoted a considerable portion of his practice to the representation of burn survivors, successfully representing people throughout Michigan and in states other than Michigan. The mechanism, or manner, in which serious injuries occur are varied resulting from automobile and truck accidents, gas explosions, defective products, and even unsafe premises. Steve has significant and successful experience in these and many other causes of injury.
Steve was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1958. After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1981, Steve then attended and graduated from Law School at the University of Toledo College of Law. Steve was admitted to practice law in Michigan and the United States Federal District Court in 1986.
From the day that Steve entered law school, his dream was to become a trial lawyer to advocate for the rights and needs of individuals who had been seriously injured. Since 1986 Steve has been living his dream and has been privileged to represent and advocate for the needs of those who have been seriously injured because of the negligence of others. Steve and his partners have obtained record-setting verdicts and settlements. Steve represents people throughout the State of Michigan and has also represented injured people in several other states a well.
Steve has achieved the highest “AV” rating from the nationally-recognized Martindale-Hubbell attorney peer reviewed rating system. In addition, Steve has been recognized and listed in Best Lawyers in America and named as a Michigan Super Lawyer. The firm has been listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
Throughout his career, Steve has been involved in organizations and efforts to advocate and educate for the needs of people who suffer serious injury, especially Traumatic Brain Injury. He has been an author and lecturer concerning the litigation of Traumatic Brain Injury claims and automobile No-Fault benefits; sources of recovery and rehabilitation for Traumatic Brain Injury survivors; and The Role of the Lawyers in the Treatment Team for Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors and Their Families. He was a lecturer at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education Masters in Trial Program on Proving Damages in Brain Injury Cases.
Steve has worked to advance the cause and protection of persons with disabilities and serious injuries. He served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of Michigan and was the past President of the Board of Directors for the Disability Resource Center of Southwestern Michigan. Steve was also a member of the Bronson Methodist Hospital Rehabilitation Advisory Committee; is a Special Member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology; a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Science; a member of the Brain Injury Network of Southwest Michigan; a past Advisor for the Kalamazoo County Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving; a past Moderator for the Kalamazoo County Pilot Program Victim Impact Panel and he has also served as a special Mediator/Arbitrator for ADR of Personal Injury Cases. Steve is also a member of the Kalamazoo County and American (Member, Sections on: Negligence and Litigation) Bar Associations; State Bar of Michigan; Michigan Association for Justice; and the American Association for Justice.
