Negligence
Halpert Weston & Sawusch, P.C. is a leading law firm representing injured people, and only injured people and their families, throughout Michigan and in other states. We care about, and take care of, our clients and family members and their many needs. We care about our clients and family members as people first. Our goal is meeting the needs of the client and exceeding their expectations. We do not advertise in newspapers or on television; we do not send blind letters soliciting cases from people we have never met—solicitations most of our clients have said they received but by which they were uniformly offended. We are privileged and honored to have been called by many people over the years who have heard of our successes and dedication to our clients. We continue to feel privileged and honored to provide legal information and advice to all those who are interested in our legal counsel.
Halpert Weston & Sawusch, P.C. has a large general tort practice and has handled thousands of cases over the decades in which its lawyers have been practicing personal injury law and litigation. The types of cases we have successfully handled, from trial verdicts to settlements, are many and varied, ranging from automobile accidents, trucking accidents, train and bus accidents, workplace accidents involving the negligence of others and defective machinery or suppliers, to product liability to municipal or governmental liability, wrongful death cases, aviation accidents, sexual misconduct, civil rights, and many others.
One general area of practice in which we have had major successes over the years is general negligence. In other words, many times clients are injured or killed in any number of ways due to the negligence of others. A few of our cases our highlighted below (and also may be found under other practice areas as well).
Of immediate concern to anyone seeking legal advice or counsel regarding any accident is this: whether it is this law firm or someone else, immediate action needs to be taken to protect and preserve evidence and begin an investigation. Our firm has experts and investigators and attorneys available to quickly act to begin an investigation. The failure to do so can harm, if not destroy, the ability to pursue a legal claim. Many attorneys refer clients to our law firm because of our expertise and success. However, many times we get the call when it is too late or we are already behind the investigation of others—typically insurance companies, corporate defendants, and other private investigators or adjusters know about accidents within 24 hours and are on scene or talking to witnesses to obtain statements favorable to their position; many times the potential defendants have experts on scene within 24 hours and are looking at or collecting evidence before a lawyer for the injured party is even contacted. At times, the accident scene is already cleaned up by the time we have been contacted. Time is of the essence in virtually every accident claim whether it is a car accident or a gas explosion.
Halpert Weston & Sawusch, P.C. has had many cases in which we have been quickly contacted and been able to get access to the scene and preserve and protect critical evidence.
